Stunned Bryson DeChambeau Sends Message on Phil Mickelson’s Viral Moment

On Sunday, LIV Golf concluded their Virginia event where Joaquin Niemann shot a bogey-free 8-under 63 in Sunday’s final round to claim his overall fourth individual victory of the 2025 season (sixth in LIV history), while Crushers GC captured the team championship.

However, the highlight of the tournament was Phil Mickelson's flop shot. On the par-4 17th at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, the 54-year-old birdied by hoisting an improbable sideways flop shot from a greenside bunker rim. Even Bryson DeChambeau was left mesmerized.

"Man, he created some Phil Mickelson magic there." He said. "Vintage Phil, see him get up on the side slope and he's just staring at it. You could just see his wheels turning. And then he hit the shot and I got a perfect angle of it. It literally looked like the top of this roof right here. Just came back down, landed perfectly."

"Oh my gosh, he's gonna make it and it went in the hole. I was like, that's got to be one of the greatest shots I've ever seen in my entire life."

Mickelson’s miracle shot came late in a weather-delayed final round that stretched over more than two hours. The six-time major champion carded a 6-under 65 on Sunday to finish at 13-under overall, tying for fourth behind Joaquin Niemann.

The veteran will tee off again at this week's U.S. Open, which Mickelson hinted might be his last.

“I haven't thought about it too much. There's a high likelihood that it will be, but I haven't really thought about it too much.” He said.
