Scottie Scheffler has been the standout player on the PGA Tour in 2025, a run that has now stretched over three or four years.
His 18th PGA Tour title had felt almost expected heading into Sunday’s final round, but it was Justin Rose who came out on top at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Despite not being at his best, Scheffler still finished just one shot back of Rose at 15-under par.
The American golfer’s Sunday did not start well, with Brad Payne stepping in for Ted Scott as his caddie.
He made a few uncharacteristic mistakes throughout the round, which ultimately cost him in the end.
Even without the win, Scheffler managed to tie a PGA Tour record that has stood for 52 years during Sunday’s play in Memphis.
Scheffler’s run of form in 2025 has been something to behold.
Since Rory McIlroy’s Masters win in April, no one in the game has been able to match what the New Jersey native has done week after week.
He has already picked up four wins this season, including two majors, but there is another stat that stands out just as much as the trophies.
Scheffler matched a record set by Tom Weiskopf back in 1973 with his third-place finish at St. Jude.
The world number one has now finished inside the top-8 in his last 12 tournaments on the PGA Tour:

It speaks volumes about how steady he is. Even when he is not playing his best, he still finds a way into the top eight – and there are times when even an off-day ends with a win.
Scheffler has had stretches this year when he has looked untouchable. He seems to carry a presence similar to what Tiger Woods had during his prime years.
Here are the results for the 29-year-old so far this season:
Results | Scheffler’s totals |
Events played | 17 |
Wins | 4 |
Top-5s | 9 |
Top-10s | 14 |
Top-25s | 17 |
Missed cuts | 0 |
Money earned* | $20,362,883 |
*NOT including FedEx Cup bonuses
Following another strong showing at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, few would be surprised if he keeps that streak going with more top-8 finishes at both the BMW Championship and Tour Championship over the next fortnight.
