Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles is taking a well-deserved break — not from gymnastics, but from the pressure that comes with it.
In a recent Instagram post, the 24-year-old athlete shared a quiet moment alone in nature and a powerful message about self-worth, reminding fans that she is more than just her sport.
"I am more than my sport," Chiles wrote, opening up about the emotional challenges she’s faced. “Sometimes, I need moments like this — just me, fresh air, and quiet — to truly feel that.”
Known for her strength and grace on the mat, Chiles helped Team USA win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and is a multiple-time NCAA champion with UCLA. But in her post, she shifted the focus to something deeper — her mental health.
“Gymnastics will always be a part of my story,” she said. “It’s pushed me, challenged me, and helped me reach heights I once thought were impossible. But being an athlete isn’t all I am.”
Chiles revealed that she’s also a daughter, sister, aunt, student, business owner and friend. She’s learning every day how to take care of her mental well-being just as much as her physical training.
In her honest message, Chiles admitted that there were times when she based her entire self-worth on scores, podium finishes and meeting others’ expectations. But now, she’s working on finding value in who she is beyond the gymnastics mat.
“I am resilient, creative, compassionate, and human — deserving of love and care whether I’m flipping in front of thousands or sitting quietly with my thoughts,” she wrote.
Chiles, who recently returned to UCLA for another shot at the NCAA championship, has also been active off the mat. She appeared in the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, attended the Gold House Gala honoring AAPI leaders and is set to present at the upcoming American Music Awards.
Still, amid all the public events and achievements, Chiles’ message was deeply personal. She reached out to others who may be feeling overwhelmed or unsure of their value without a title or trophy.
“If you’re feeling overwhelmed or questioning your worth beyond your performance, know that I see you. You matter,” she added. “Take a moment for yourself — it can be more powerful than you realize.”
As one of the most accomplished gymnasts of her generation, Chiles is proving that strength isn’t only about what you do — it’s also about knowing who you are when you stop doing it.
