Simone Biles left the 2024 Paris Olympics with three gold medals and one silver. With Los Angeles hosting the 2028 Olympics, the excitement is already brewing about Biles’ return.
According to the most decorated gymnast herself, it might be sooner than thought. While Biles pulled away from the gymnastics world two years ago, she opened up about where things stand at the moment.
“I feel like we’re still at a 50-50 and that we’re still on a time crunch here now, it’s almost half of 2026,” the 29-year-old said as reported by CNN Sports. “We’re going to have to make these decisions pretty quickly.”
Basically, Biles’ return depends on how well her body transitions back to gymnastics and how her mental health holds up with it. She is giving her body and mind enough time to rest and might join Pilates and Yoga sessions to release the stress.
“Mental health plays a big role in it because, physically, my coaches will get me in shape,” she talked about her priorities at the moment. “Mental is a huge thing, and it’s a lot of dedication on that because the road’s not easy. It’s long, but it’s still work.”
Earlier, she did mention being present at the 2028 Olympics in “some capacity.” But now, Biles had been clearer.
At the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, she introduced Nadia Comăneci ahead of her Lifetime Achievement honor and spoke about her excitement for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Los Angeles Olympics.
Biles’ return will undoubtedly send tremors of excitement through the Gymnastics world. However, she wouldn’t be the only one making a return.
After the victorious run in the 2024 Paris Olympics and 2025 NCAA, Jade Carey also stepped aside from the world of gymnastics. But not so long ago, the Oregon State University student assistant coach updated about her future moves.
“Gymnastics has taught me so many lessons about growth, resilience and passion. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been unforgettable,” Carey said in a video she posted on Instagram in April 26. “With that being said, I still have more to give, and I’m not done yet.”
In 2024, both Biles and Carey pushed Team USA’s gold medal run in Paris. Individually, Biles claimed gold, and Carey returned wearing Bronze. So, if Biles logs back into elite-level competition once more, she might just find Carey beside her again.
