A top prep pitcher flashed a 102 mph fastball in a high school game Tuesday.

Left-handed pitcher Jack Bauer of Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Il. showed off the impressive velocity during his outing Tuesday. Prep Baseball scout Ian Smith shared the video and added that Bauer’s fastball sat between 97 and 101 mph, and hit 102 mph on one occasion.

Smith added that Bauer also displayed a sharp slider and a changeup.

It’s unusual but not unheard of for a high schooler to hit triple digits. Another top high school prospect, Seth Hernandez, has done it recently as well. The feat is arguably more impressive for Bauer, as not many lefties can channel that type of velocity on a consistent basis.

A separate post noted that Bauer hit triple digits with his fastball seven times during his outing.

Bauer has verbally committed to play college baseball for Virginia, but might not make it that far if he goes high up in the MLB Draft. If he keeps flashing triple digits that consistently, he will probably be MLB-bound this June.
