WNBA star A'ja Wilson shows off her Aussiepoo puppies in new "Meet the Pets" episode

The Las Vegas Aces made A'ja Wilson the No. 1 overall pick of the 2018 WNBA draft.

The 24-year-old immediately made an impact on the franchise, becoming the 2018 Rookie of the Year and most recently earning 2020 WNBA MVP honors. The franchise simultaneously inspired Wilson.

For Whistle's latest installment of "Meet the Pets," Wilson wore a "Dog Mom" shirt that her mother bought for her and introduced us to her Aussiepoo puppies.

"When it came to naming them, especially Ace, I just kind of went off of just the Aces," the three-time All-Star explained. "I'm very unique, of course. The second two and ace is a deuce. Ace and Deuce, they're two peas in a pod."

Despite being "terrified" of small dogs while at the University of South Carolina, Wilson got one-year-old Ace before entering the the WNBA Bubble (the "Wubble") last year. She wasn't sure if she could "handle the responsibility" of two dogs, but after she wasn't able to take Ace with her into the Wubble, she convinced herself to add nine-month-old Deuce to the family. "They were all very emotional decisions," she said.

As for where Ace and Deuce would most thrive on the basketball court, Wilson estimated that Deuce is "too crazy to be a point guard" but "could get the job done" as a shooting guard while Ace "would probably be like me."

There's plenty of puppy talk—can there ever really be enough puppies?—but Wilson also discussed her all-time favorite WNBA players as well as the mission behind her eponymous foundation.
