With only four games on the MLB schedule for August 7, it was a light day for news on the injury front. However, there was some notable news on a former NL MVP, and a NL Cy Young award winner who are both recovering from injuries. Additionally, the Mariners saw Josh Naylor exit Seattle’s game on the 7th.
Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. took batting practice before the team’s game on August 7 against the Marlins.

Acuna Jr. has been on the IL since the end of July thanks to a calf strain.
Braves pitcher Chris Sale tossed two innings (30 pitches) in live BP, simulated work that marks the next step in his rehab. Sale hasn’t pitched in a game since the middle of June.
Atlanta will chart out next steps for Sale beginning on the 8th.
On a related note, Grant Holmes stated he’s opted for rehab rather than surgery for his partially torn UCL. Had he undergone surgery, Holmes would have missed all of 2026. For now, he hopes to avoid that.
The Mariners won the final game of their series with the White Sox on August 7. However, Seattle was not left unscathed. Josh Naylor, who was acquired last month by the Mariners, left with an apparent injury after the third inning.
Naylor reportedly left with shoulder soreness.
Orioles infielder Ryan Mountcastle went 0-3 for Norfolk (AAA) as the Tides’ designated hitter. Mountcastle did not play the whole game, as he was pinch hit for in the sixth inning.
Alek Manoah threw three innings for New Hampshire (AA). Manaoh gave up five hits and three walks, and tossed 64 pitches in total.
Luis Garcia (Astros) and Bryce Miller (Mariners) were on rehab assignments with their respective Triple-A affiliates.
The White Sox placed infielder Chase Meidroth on the 10-day IL with a right thumb contusion. It’s retroactive to August 4.
