The Astros are down multiple star bats, as Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena are currently on the injured list. Another one was added on July 20, as 2025 AL All-Star Isaac Paredes went down with a hamstring strain.
Pete Alonso did not start for the Mets on July 20, as the slugging first baseman was nursing a hand injury suffered during the team’s game on July 19. It was reported to be a hand contusion.
He did, however, come in as an in-game substitution.
Milwaukee placed 1B/OF Jake Bauers on the 10-day IL with a left shoulder impingement. It’s retroactive to July 19.
Houston infielder Isaac Paredes left the Astros’ game on July 19 after he started limping down the first-base line. One day later, the team placed him on the injured list.
Paredes was placed on the IL with a right hamstring strain. Per reports, he will go back to Houston for an MRI.
Additionally, Brendan Rodgers, who was on a rehab assignment for the team, has now been shifted to the 60-day IL.
Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell struck out six over four innings for Oklahoma City (AAA) on July 20. Snell threw 58 pitches. Additionally, Blake Treinen tossed a scoreless frame and struck out two.
Astros pitcher Luis Garcia threw two scoreless innings for Fayetteville (A).
Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah threw 28 pitches on July 20 for Dunedin (A). Manoah struck out two. He capped out at 94 MPH and averaged 93 MPH on his two-seamer.
Colorado placed infielder Ryan Ritter on the injured list with a right middle finger laceration.
X-rays on the wrist of Freddie Freeman, who left the Dodgers’ game on July 20 after a hit by pitch to his left wrist, were negative.
