The 2025 All-Star break is one day away, perfect timing for several injured players. Namely, Austin Riley, who landed on the IL with an abdomen injury. It’s one of several injury notes for July 12, which also includes an update on Red Sox rookie Hunter Dobbins.

Dobbins done for 2025

The Red Sox were down Kutter Crawford for the rest of 2025, and now add one more pitcher to the list of injured starters for Boston.

Hunter Dobbins, who came off the IL yesterday, left his start on July 11 after awkwardly coming down on his right leg trying to cover first base. He was originally diagnosed with right knee soreness. But on the 12th, the team announced he tore his right ACL.

The injury will cause Dobbins to miss the remainder of the season.

Riley on IL

Atlanta placed Austin Riley on the 10-day IL with a strained right abdomen.

Riley stated he felt something was off after fielding a sacrifice bunt in the second inning of the Braves’ game on July 11, and it felt worse the following inning. Luke Williams pinch hit for him in the fourth.

Devers dealing with back issue

Rafael Devers‘ power numbers have been down since the trade to San Francisco, and the issue may be more than just a move to a pitcher-friendly venue.

The Giants infielder is dealing with a disk injury in his back, relayed by team manager Bob Melvin. Devers, who has been on anti-inflammatory medication, is not believed to need an IL stint as the team moves into the All-Star break.

Rehab assignments

Astros pitcher Cristian Javier went 1.1 innings for the team’s FCL affiliate. Javier struck out two but gave up one hit and three walks.

Other injury news

Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar exited the team’s game on July 12 with left side soreness.

Yankees pitcher Max Fried left his start on July 12 with a blister.

Mets reliever Dedniel Nunez, dealing with a partially torn ACL in his elbow, will need Tommy John surgery.

Jake Fraley (Reds) was activated off the injured list.
