It’s been a tough season injury-wise for the Diamondbacks. Unfortunately for Arizona, the D-Backs will be without Lourdes Gurriel Jr. for the rest of the year thanks to a season-ending knee injury. Additionally, the Mets will be without one of their bats for the rest of this season.
The Diamondbacks placed Lourdes Gurriel Jr. on the 10-day IL with a torn ACL. He is done for the rest of the 2025 season.
Gurriel Jr. sustained the injury on September 1 against the Diamondbacks, as he attempted to get out of the way of a sprawling Blaze Alexander. He was carted off the field.
The Mets had been without Tyrone Taylor over the last few days and will be without him for at least the next few more. New York placed him on the 10-day IL with a hamstring strain, retroactive to August 30.
Additionally, Jesse Winker is likely done for 2025. The Mets reported that he’s not expected back this season.
Winker, who re-signed with the team last winter, had just 81 plate appearances for the Mets this season.
The Blue Jays should have Max Scherzer available this weekend against the Yankees.
Scherzer stated earlier today that he’s feeling better and going through his regular routine, just a few days after exiting his start against the Brewers back tightness. He’s scheduled to start on September 7.
Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz went 0-2 with a walk and run scored for Harrisburg (AA). He played the first five innings for the Senators.
Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas was the starting DH for Akron (AA) on September 2. Thomas went 0-3 with a strikeout.
Mets outfielder Jose Siri went 1-5 with Syracuse (AAA), while Francisco Alvarez went 1-4 as the starting catcher (he played the entire game). Also in that game, Tylor Megill went four innings (79 pitches) and struck out five.
Tigers pitcher Alex Cobb threw a scoreless frame (24 pitches) for Toledo (AAA). He walked three.
Rangers pitcher Tyler Mahle gave up five runs over one inning (36 pitches) for Round Rock (AAA).
Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony left the team’s game on September 2 with quadriceps tightness.
Nick Lodolo (illness) and Mike Trout (skin infection) also did not start on the 2nd.
San Diego placed reliever Jason Adam on the 10-day IL, one day after he suffered a quad tendon injury. He will not return this season.
The Nationals transferred Drew Millas (finger) to the 60-day IL.
Blue Jays pitcher Robinson Pina (UCL sprain) was placed on the 60-day IL.
Twins pitcher David Festa will not return this season, as he suffered a setback while out on rehab.
