2026 Injury Report: Updates on Crochet, Wood, Yesavage

Per the club, it was due to left knee discomfort.

Crochet stars throwing program

The Red Sox have been able to tear it up for over a month without ace Garrett Crochet. However, the left-hander is making progress.

Interim manager Chad Tracy noted that Crochet has started to throw from 50-to-60 feet from flat ground (h/t Boston Herald).

IL moves

The Nationals placed outfielder James Wood on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain, one that was called mild by manager Blake Butera.

Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz was placed on the 10-day IL with a strained right thumb.

Athletics pitcher Jeffrey Springs was placed on the 15-day IL with right hip discomfort.

Cubs pitcher Ben Brown was shifted to the 60-day IL.

Bobby Witt Jr., Brendan Donovan, J.T. Ginn, Ben Joyce, Adam Frazier, & Dedniel Nunez were activated off the injured list.

Rehab assignments

The Padres had two pitchers rehabbing with Low-A Lake Elsinore: Joe Musgrove & Nick Pivetta. Musgrove went 2.2 IP (39 pitches) for the Storm, an outing that saw him walk two, allow two hits, and strike out three batters.

Nick Pivetta piggybacked and exited after 14 pitches due to elbow tightness. But per Padres manager Craig Stammen, Pivetta threw 30 more pitches in a bullpen session and did so without issue. He will be reevaluated.

Also in that game, Tyler Glasnow started for Low-A Ontario. Glasnow struck out one over two scoreless innings (16 pitches). The Dodgers also had Blake Snell pitch for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Snell struck out three, walked four, and allowed five hits for the Comets over 3.2 IP (73 pitches).

Diamondbacks reliever Justin Martinez struck out two over a scoreless inning for Low-A Visalia.

Jordan Lawlar went 0-3 for Double-A Amarillo, playing center field.

Also, Michael Soroka walked two and struck out one over four innings for Triple-A Reno. He averaged 93 MPH on his four-seamer, and topped out at 94 MPH overall on the day.

Other notes

Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers was held out due to abdominal soreness.

Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker did not play against the Yankees due to knee inflammation.

Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez sat on August 4 with left wrist inflammation.

Giants first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who didn’t start on the 4th but came in later & picked up a hit, is dealing with a bruised left thumb.
