Things have been going well for the Yankees this year, particularly with respect to the rotation. New York hasn’t had Gerrit Cole out all this season, and just saw Carlos Rodon. Yet, a group led by Cam Schlittler and Max Fried has led the Yankees to one of the best records in the AL. However, Fried couldn’t finish his May 13 start against the O’s, and now the team must wait for imaging on his elbow.
Yankees pitcher Max Fried was removed from his start against the Orioles due to left elbow soreness. Per the left-hander, he felt it on the back of his elbow, by the triceps area.
Fried stated after the game that he’s not too worried but he wouldn’t put a timeline on when he’ll be ready.
Mets outfielder Juan Soto had to exit the team’s game on May 13 against the Tigers after he fouled a ball off his ankle. The incident happened in the third inning but he was able to stay in until the seventh.
X-rays on Soto’s ankle came back negative, per manager Carlos Mendoza.
That was just one of two notable hits for the Mets on the day. Catcher Francisco Alvarez, who left the team’s game on May 12, was placed on the IL with a meniscus tear. Alvarez is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Reds pitcher Rhett Lowder was placed on the IL with right shoulder pain.
The Angels placed pitcher Drew Pomeranz on the injured list with left elbow inflammation.
