2026 Injury Report: Updates on Langeliers, Bellinger, Montgomery

With the Yankees already down one superstar outfielder, another big bat from the club was placed on the IL on July 26. The Athletics, meanwhile, put All-Star catcher Shea Langeliers on the injured list with what could be a season-ending injury.

Langeliers dealing with torn meniscus

The Athletics placed catcher Shea Langeliers on the 10-day IL with a torn meniscus in his right knee.

It may very well be a season-ending injury for Langeliers, a 2026 AL All-Star who slashed .263/.332/.497 with 23 home runs and 42 extra-base hits heading into play on July 16. And, it could also throw a major wrinkle for the upcoming Trade Deadline, as this is the weird year where several clubs competing for a playoff spot could add a backstop.

Multiple players exit

The Reds saw Spencer Steer exit versus the Cardinals due to right wrist pain.

Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter left on July 26 due to a heel injury.

Athletics pitcher Jeffrey Springs left his start against the Twins with right hip discomfort.

IL moves

Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger was placed on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain.

Twins pitcher Mike Paredes was placed on the 15-day IL with a left oblique strain, retroactive to July 22.

Rehab assignments

Braves catcher Sean Murphy went 2-4 with an RBI for Triple-A Gwinnett. Also in that same game, Ha-Seong Kim went 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Javier Baez, playing in center field, went 2-4 with Triple-A Toledo.

Reds second baseman Matt McLain went 0-3 with two strikeouts for Triple-A Louisville.

Dodgers pitcher Edwin Diaz struck out one and allowed five earned runs over 0.1 IP with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Diaz allowed two hits and two walks.

Blue Jays outfielder Jesus Sanchez went 0-2 with a walk for Low-A Dunedin.

Other notes

White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery (shin bruise) was held out on July 26. As was Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (elbow).

Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer will return from the IL & start on July 27.
