More moves were made across Major League Baseball on April 6. The Brewers added left-hander Shane Drohan to their big league roster, while the White Sox will take a flier on former second-rounder Doug Nikhazy.

Brewers promote Drohan

The Brewers recalled pitcher Shane Drohan from Triple-A Nashville.

Whenever Drohan gets into a game for Milwaukee, it’ll mark the MLB debut for the 27-year-old who was once a Rule 5 pick. The White Sox selected Drohan in the 2023 installment but never pitched with the team. He was returned to the Sox in June 2024.

As we noted in our 2025 MiLB coverage, Drohan, acquired from Boston for Caleb Durbin, had a strong 2025 despite dealing with forearm issues. His fastball was one of the top three in Triple-A last season in terms of swing and miss.

Drohan struck out six over 3.1 innings in his lone Triple-A start this season.

Astros DFA Munoz

The Astros designated Roddery Munoz for assignment.

Munoz was a Rule 5 pick by the Astros this past December after what was an impressive year in Triple-A. The right-hander reliever had the second-best whiff rate in the International League but that success didn’t roll over to the Majors. He conceded six walks and three home runs over four MLB innings this season.

Since Munoz was a Rule 5 pick, he would have to be offered back to the Reds unless another MLB team agrees to pick him up and keep him on the big league roster.

Additionally, the Astros optioned Shay Whitcomb to Triple-A Sugar Land.

White Sox claim Nikhazy

The White Sox claimed pitcher Doug Nikhazy off waivers from the Guardians.

Nikhazy was designated for assignment last week by the Guardians. The left-hander, a former second-round pick in 2021, made his MLB debut last season and has interesting stuff, including a fastball with ride and cut, along with a diverse arsenal. However, gave up a lot of hard contact in 2025, as Nikhazy gave up 15 home runs over 86 innings.

He was optioned to Triple-A after the move.

Other moves

Isaac Paredes was removed from the bereavement list, while Garrett Whitlock came off the paternity list.

Tyler Uberstine (Red Sox), Nick Loftin (Royals), and Carson Williams (Rays) were optioned to Triple-A.

Javier Assad (Cubs), Brandon Young (Orioles), Ronny Mauricio (Mets), and Ryan Gusto (Marlins) were recalled from the Minors.

Austin Voth, added to the Blue Jays’ roster on April 5, was DFA’d. Josh Fleming was selected from Triple-A and took Voth’s spot on the roster.
