Another notable waiver claim was made on September 14. Jesús Sanchez, who started the year with the Blue Jays, is back in the National League, as the Diamondbacks claimed him off waivers. Plus, prospect Owen Murphy is back up with Atlanta, while Bailey Falter is off the Braves’ roster.

Sanchez claimed by Arizona

The Diamondbacks claimed outfielder Jesús Sanchez from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Sanchez was designated for assignment back on September 11 by Toronto. It came at a time when Sanchez did not produce much at the plate, as the veteran outfielder posted a .679 OPS since the start of August. What’s more, Sanchez, known to be jumpy at the plate at times, expanded more out of the strike zone, particularly on two-seam and four-seam fastballs.

Compare that to 2025.

Sanchez essentially replaces another soon-to-be former D-Back who’s very familiar to Toronto fans. Arizona recently designated ex-Blue Jay Lourdes Gurriel Jr. for assignment.

Falter out, Murphy up

The Braves designated left-hander Bailey Falter for assignment.

Falter was promoted to the Majors earlier in September, a month after the Braves acquired him alongside Lane Thomas from Kansas City. He pitched in two games for Atlanta, striking out two and allowing two hits over 3.1 IP.

Rookie pitcher Owen Murphy replaces Falter on the big-league roster. Murphy, who was promoted for the first time earlier in the year, made three outings with Atlanta this season. His last came on July 18 against the Rangers, when he struck out two and allowed two runs over 2.2 IP.

Recalls & options

Davis Schneider (Blue Jays), Brendan Cellucci (Blue Jays), Lucas Erceg (Royals), Codi Heuer (Orioles), and Paul Gervase (Dodgers) were recalled.

Mason McCoy (Padres), Yaramil Hiraldo (Orioles), Easton McGee (Royals), Ricky Tiedemann (Blue Jays), Yilber Diaz (Tigers), and Emmet Sheehan (Dodgers) were optioned to the Minors.
