It has been a quiet few days after a flurry of roster decisions made late last week. But on November 3, the list of players eligible for arbitration via Super Two was released. It included several All-Stars from 2025 and 2026, including closers Jacob Latz & Louis Varland.
Major League Baseball confirmed that 28 players will be Super Two-eligible for the 2026-27 offseason. This status is for players who are between two and three years of service time and were in the top 22% of individuals in service time among players in that range. Additionally, Super Two players must have been on an MLB roster for at least 86 days during the preceding year (2025, in this case).
The list includes Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages, who made Los Angeles’ CBT situation a little bit more tenuous. Pages hit 23 home runs and 51 extra-base hits for the Dodgers last season, another strong year after a fantastic first half in 2025.
Jacob Latz became an All-Star closer in 2026 after the Rangers moved him into the bullpen early in 2026. Latz is Super Two-eligible, as is Blue Jays closer Louis Varland. The two were among the 11 MLB relievers with at least 30 saves this season.
The Blue Jays took it on the chin to a certain extent, as Nathan Lukes, Davis Schneider, and Spencer Arrighetti are all eligible. However, all three likely won’t be bank-breakers for Toronto.
Randy Rodriguez, who missed all of 2026 but still accumulated a full year of service time on the IL, was on the list. Rodriguez was an All-Star for the Giants in 2026.
Daniel Palencia, who spent time in 2025 and 2026 as the closer for the Cubs, is Super Two-eligible alongside Ben Brown. Brown had a very mixed early start to his MLB career but had a mini-breakout season in what was an injury-shortened year. Over 20 appearances, Brown posted a 1.85 ERA for Chicago.
Other notables include Tyron Guerrero (Red Sox), Quinn Priester (Brewers), Jose Butto (Rangers), Evan Carter (Rangers), Kyle Leahy (Cardinals), and Hogan Harris (Athletics).
The rest of the list included Sam Bachman (Angels), Jhony Brito (Padres), Mitchell Parker (Braves), Danny Young (Braves), Cooper Criswell (Mariners), Carlos Vargas (Mariners), Slade Cecconi (Guardians), Jordan Beck (Rockies), Spencer Horwitz (Pirates), Jahmai Jones (Red Sox), Jordan Leasure (White Sox), Pedro Pages (Cardinals), and Parker Meadows (Tigers).
The Nationals released pitcher Zak Kent.
