Aaron Judge provides update on his latest injury

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge offered something of a hopeful update on his latest injury.

Judge said Saturday he is dealing with a right calf strain in his soleus muscle, which impacts him while hitting. While he declined to offer specifics on the severity of the strain, he did express his “hope” to return for the postseason.

“I’d like to be back by the postseason. That’s definitely the plan,” Judge said. “I got really no answers for you on any timeline or anything like that.”

Aaron Judge said his right calf strain is in the soleus muscle. He wouldn’t say what grade strain the MRI revealed.

Obviously, there is a big difference between what Judge is hoping for and what the reality of the situation might be. For now, he does not want to set any timetable. Whether that is because he genuinely does not have one or he intends to try and beat the one that has been provided to him is open to interpretation.

Judge suffered the injury Wednesday, the latest frustration in a season that already saw him miss 84 games due to a rib injury. Manager Aaron Boone’s prognosis sounded a bit more negative than Judge’s does, though the truth is we probably will not know where things stand until the playoffs actually start.
