Alex Cora Hints at Red Sox Making More Internal Moves in Near Future

The Boston Red Sox made a very questionable decision on Sunday night, trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants for one of the worst packages that Major League Baseball has ever seen for a superstar talent.

It was a horrible mistake by the Red Sox, something that no fan wanted. However, there isn't anything that any fan, player, or coach can do now. The Red Sox have made their decision, and while it was the wrong one, it happened.

However, this will likely lead to other decisions that the Red Sox must make. The team showed they mean business.

When speaking to reporters, Alex Cora admitted that the Red Sox had some decisions to make prior to this move. That could be a good indication of what's to come for the Red Sox.

“We have to make a decision,” Cora admitted Saturday , per WEEI’s Tom Carroll. “We will talk about it, which route we’re going to go, but right now this is where we’re at with these guys. We got this 26 for the next three-or-four days, and then when we have to make a decision, we’ll make a decision… We can only keep 26 here. It’s not a problem, but we have to make decisions.”

The Red Sox are expected to get healthier in the near future, and there may be a scenario where sending down a few prospects or designating existing big-league players for assignment is the right move.

Ultimately, Cora has to make that decision with the front office and hope they’re the right ones.
