Alex Rodriguez Accuses MLB All-Star Game Of Making Mistake

As we approach the MLB All-Star Game, former All-Star Alex Rodriguez had a bone to pick with the voters over one player who didn't make it.

Appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the former AL MVP declared that New York Mets outfield Juan Soto deserves to be the in All-Star Game. Rodriguez pointed out that Soto's recent form has been so good that it should excuse the slow start that he got off to.

A-Rod then compared the situation with Soto to when he watched the NBA All-Star Game when he was younger. He said he always wanted to see Larry Bird go up against Magic Johnson and they offered a great entertainment factor regardless of how they previously played.

"If this is a game of stars and entertainment on Fox, Juan Soto needs to be in Atlanta," Rodriguez said. "There's no one I'd rather have on the set... Back in the day I watched Larry Bird and Magic - I couldn't care less if they had had a bad first half - I want to see Bird and Magic in the All-Star Game, year in and year out."

Soto certainly seems to have overcome the struggles he dealt with at the start of the season. He ended the month of may with his batting average in the .220s but it has since risen all the way to the .260s.

Since June 1, Soto has hit 14 home runs while hitting .311. And that's just a sliver of how good Soto has been since the start of the summer.

Unfortunately for Soto, his re-emergence as one of the elite hitters came a little bit too late for him to be added to the All-Star lineup.

Perhaps Soto will fuel his All-Star snub into an even stronger second-half stretch of this MLB season. The Mets could certainly use something like that now that they're in a dogfight with the Phillies for NL East control. As of writing, the Mets are half a game back of Philly.

Do you agree with Alex Rodriguez? Should Soto have been made an All-Star for the entertainment factor alone?
