Baseball fans troll Great Britain for comically bland WBC unis
Baseball uniforms aren't generally known for their flashiness. However, when it comes to simplicity, Great Britain's World Baseball Classic uniforms may have no rival.
Making its first appearance in the WBC, Great Britain debuted Saturday against the United States, sporting a look that, at the very best, lacked creativity.
Unsurprisingly, the interwebs were chock full of hilarious takes on the Brits' unis.
While most would argue that the "GB" on the red coats' hats isn't offensive, things get dicey on the team's jersey, which says "Great Britain" in uninspiring block letters.
For those wondering, Great Britain's "home" jerseys for the WBC aren't much better. They trade red for grey, a significant upgrade, but the only real difference is a white strip down the shoulder.
Baseball uniforms aren't hard, and Nike, who made the WBC jerseys, could've solved a lot of issues by featuring the Union Jack a little more prominently or incorporating it into the jersey. Instead, keeping with the theme of the team's overall look, they chose the dullest option by slapping it on the sleeve.
Life is a learning experience, and being that it's Great Britain's first time in the WBC, they should get a pass. However, a uniform upgrade is a must if they qualify for the WBC again in four years.
