The Los Angeles Angels entered the 2025 season with high expectations after a franchise-record 99 losses in 2024. However, the early part of the season was marked by inconsistency, with the team struggling to find its rhythm. Despite a promising 9-5 start, the Angels faced challenges that saw them fall well-below the .500 mark, unable to string together significant winning streaks.
However, the tides appear to have turned in mid-May, as the Angels have been rolling lately. After suffering a 5-1 defeat to the San Diego Padres, the Angels swept cross-town rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Athletics.
The momentum continued on Friday when LA returned home to face the Miami Marlins. In the opening game of the series, the Angels secured a 7-4 win, extending their winning streak to eight games—their longest since 2014. Yusei Kikuchi delivered 5.2 scoreless innings, earning his first win of the season. Taylor Ward and Jorge Soler each contributed home runs, with Ward's 15th of the season tying him for fifth in the majors.
This victory also marked a historic achievement for the franchise. The Angels set a new team record by hitting multiple home runs in seven consecutive games, surpassing their previous record of six-game streaks with two or more homers set in 1961 and 2019.

Halos previously had six-game streaks with 2+ homers from Sept. 26 - Oct. 1, 1961 & April 4-9, 2019. https://t.co/m2l3oRXYt1
Ward's performance has been instrumental in the team's success. His current streak of nine consecutive games with an extra-base hit ties a franchise record set by Darin Erstad in 1998. Additionally, Ward has driven in at least one run in seven straight games, further solidifying his role as a key contributor to the Angels' offensive surge.
With the recent run, the Angels now sit third in American League West standings, just half a game behind the Houston Astros.
