The Los Angeles Angels have not been the recipients of much good news lately. After losing their last three games, and scoring just five runs while doing so, the Halos have fallen to 12-15 and last place in the American League West division.
As if that was not bad enough, one of their key players, Nolan Schanuel, has gone down with an injury after fouling a ball off his right knee. Many feared that this injury would land him on the injured list, but on Sunday the third-year major leaguer provided a more positive update on how he was feeling.
Per Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register, Schanuel provided some optimism regarding his injury.
“Feeling a lot better, definitely,” the first baseman said. “When it first happened, I was kind of shocked and took some time. Then today, I woke up, felt a lot better. Walking on it is a lot better as well."

He added, "I tried to walk on it, and it just gave out on me. Right after it happened, I was hoping for the best and kind of thinking the worst was going to happen. After time passed and I started walking on it, I wasn’t thinking it shouldn’t be that bad."
Schanuel has been decent to begin the 2025 season. In 26 games, the first baseman has slashed .247/.327/.382 for a .709 OPS.
The former first-round pick appeared in 147 games for the Halos last season, while registering a .705 OPS. He will hope to return to the field without requiring an IL stint.
