There is more clarity around Spring Training reporting dates for the Houston Astros along with which games will be on the team’s new broadcast network.
Per The Athletic, Astros pitcher and catchers will report to West Palm Beach, Fla., on Feb. 14 (yes, Valentine’s Day). The rest of the roster must report on Feb. 19.
The Astros will play their home spring games at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, the facility they share with the Washington Nationals.
The report also included which spring games will be broadcast on the Space City Home Network, the new home for Astros baseball. The network is co-owned with the Houston Rockets and is the network both teams took over from AT&T SportsNet late last season.
Eleven of the games will be broadcast from Palm Beach — Feb. 24 against Washington, Feb. 25 against St. Louis, Feb. 27 against Washington, March 5 against Miami, March 6 against the New York Mets, March 9 against Washington, March 11 against Detroit, March 15 against Philadelphia, March 18 against Washington, March 22 against Washington and March 24 against St. Louis.
The Astros’ game with Washington on Feb. 24 is their Grapefruit League opener.
The final spring broadcast is on March 26 after the Astros break camp and return to Houston. They will play their Triple-A affiliate, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, at Minute Maid Park on March 26.
The Astros will open the regular season on March 28 at home against the New York Yankees.
The Astros are coming off a 2023 in which they tied for first place with the Texas Rangers in the American League West, but won the division based on a tiebreaker and received the No. 2 playoff seed. The Astros fell to the Rangers in the AL Championship Series in seven games.
After the season, manager Dusty Baker retired and the Astros elevated Joe Espada to manager.
