The Athletics are set to finish their series against the Texas Rangers after splitting their first two games, dropping the opener and winning their second meeting on Saturday.

Oakland has been navigating the early portion of the 2026 season while dealing with injuries to key contributors, including one of its best power bats in outfielder Brent Rooker.

Rooker's absence dates back to April 10, when he exited a game after appearing to tweak his side on a swing, later diagnosed as a right oblique strain.

“A’s have officially placed Brent Rooker on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain,” MLB.com’s Martin Gallegos reported on X. “Zack Gelof, who is already here, is now active.”

Before going down, Rooker had struggled through a slow start to the season, recording a .146 batting average with two home runs and eight RBIs across his first 12 games and 41 at-bats of the season.

Despite that early dip in production, the veteran outfielder has been one of Oakland’s most consistent power hitters and reliable players over the past few seasons, hitting 99 home runs from 2023 through 2025, and appearing in all 162 regular-season games last year.

Before Sunday's series finale against the Rangers, the Athletics announced that Rooker has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

“The Athletics reinstated outfielder Brent Rooker from the 10-day injured list and designated infielder Andy Ibáñez for assignment,” the team’s communications account posted on X.

Rooker is immediately back in the lineup, batting fourth as the designated hitter against Texas.

To make room on the roster, Oakland designated Andy Ibañez for assignment after a brief stint with the club.

Ibañez appeared in 11 games and hit .118 while playing multiple infield positions during his time in the majors.

The Rangers host the Athletics at 2:35 p.m. ET on Sunday before the latter enjoy a day off on Monday.
