Athletics lose pitcher to IL before Cardinals game

The Athletics are set to continue their series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night. The series has not gone according to plan for the A’s so far, however. Not only were they defeated 6-4 on Tuesday, but Jacob Wilson was placed on the injured list before Tuesday’s game. On Wednesday, the A’s made another injury move.

“The Athletics placed right-handed pitcher Brooks Kriske on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement and recalled right-handed pitcher Mason Barnett from Triple-A Las Vegas,” the team announced.

Kriske, a right-handed pitcher, only appeared in two games before suffering the shoulder injury. Nevertheless, losing pitching depth is obviously never ideal.

It remains to be seen how much time he will end missing with the injury. Updates will continue to be monitored and provided on Brooks Kriske’s injury status as they are made available.

Overall, the Athletics have endured an up and down season. The ball club holds a mediocre 21-20 record, but they have upset expectations and the A’s currently lead the American League West standings. The AL West is far from the best division in the sport, so the A’s could realistically compete for the division championship this year.

However, the A’s have dropped two consecutive contests. They would love to get back on track in the second contest of their three-game series against a Cardinals ball club that has also upset expectations so far during the ’26 campaign.

First pitch for the Athletics and Cardinals clash on Wednesday night is scheduled for 9:40 PM EST.
