The injury bug continues to plague the Chicago White Sox outfield. Hot on the heels of Mike Tauchman's hamstring setback, Austin Slater is now sidelined with a torn meniscus, landing him on the 10-day injured list.
Prior to today’s game vs. Boston, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Austin Slater on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 11) with a right knee meniscus tear and recalled outfielder Greg Jones from Class AAA Charlotte.

In response to this latest setback, the Sox have recalled Greg Jones from Triple-A Charlotte. Jones, a waiver wire pickup from the Colorado Rockies in March, brings an intriguing skill set to a depleted outfield corps.
Slater's absence will be felt in the Sox lineup. Through eight games and 20 plate appearances this season, he's posted a solid .750 OPS. Known primarily as a lefty-masher, Slater had been seeing increased action against right-handed pitching in 2025, showcasing his versatility.
Enter Greg Jones, a 27-year-old speedster looking to make his mark. His 2024 Triple-A campaign with Albuquerque was eye-catching: a .269/.346/.460 slash line complemented by a whopping 46 stolen bases. With the White Sox outfield depth stretched thin, Jones has a golden opportunity to prove he belongs at the big league level.
