The Milwaukee Brewers added a nostalgic twist to Monday night’s matchup with the San Francisco Giants when Pablo Sanchez appeared at American Family Field. The Backyard Baseball icon quickly became part of the broadcast and the Brewers’ 16-2 rout in the series opener.
Sanchez, the “Secret Weapon” from the Backyard Baseball universe, appeared as a life-sized mascot behind the backstop glass. The sight immediately connected fans at the ballpark and viewers at home with one of the most recognizable fictional athletes from the classic video game series.
The timing only made the scene better for Milwaukee. Soon after Sanchez showed up on the broadcast, the Brewers erupted for a seven-run inning against Landen Roupp and turned the opener into a runaway, giving the night a fun, lighter subplot.
FOX Sports: MLB posted video of Sanchez on X, formerly Twitter, as the character watched the first game of the series from premium seats.

MLB’s Sarah Langs also shared a closer look on the platform, showing the legendary video game character near the on-deck circle as the Brewers continued adding on.

The appearance also served as promotion for Backyard Baseball Night at American Family Field on Wednesday, June 3. Fans with a special theme-night ticket package will receive a limited-edition Sanchez bobblehead.
The timing fits a larger revival for the franchise, with a new Backyard Baseball reboot scheduled to launch July 9 on PC, Mac, and modern consoles. For the Brewers, though, Sanchez became more than a marketing cameo Monday night. He turned into a viral good-luck charm during one of the Brewers’ most lopsided wins of the season.
