Blue Jays: Bo Bichette appeared to be in discomfort after running the bases

This isn’t a good sign, especially after he said he was optimistic he’ll be good to go for the ALCS. While his inclusion on the ALCS roster is still possible, MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson describes the possibility as “a long shot”. The Blue Jays’ roster is due on Sunday at 10:00 AM, with Game 1 starting at 8:03 PM ET.

Despite not having Bichette in the lineup, the Blue Jays’ offence is rolling. In their four-game series against the New York Yankees in the American League Divisional Series, the Jays scored 34 runs in 34 innings.

That said, adding Bichette to the lineup, even as a designated hitter or a pinch hitter, makes the lineup that much more dangerous. It was a good bounce-back season for the 27-year-old shortstop, as he slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs in 628 plate appearances for a career-best 134 wRC+.

Unfortunately, he was injured in an early June game while attempting to score, crashing into Yankees catcher Austin Wells. There is a possibility that the play was Bichette’s last as a Blue Jay, as he’s set to become a free agent five days after the conclusion of the World Series.

Hopefully, that isn’t the case and Bichette can make his return at some point this postseason. Even if it’s not for the ALCS, there’ll still be a chance that Bichette can be added to the World Series roster, if the Jays get there, of course.
