Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage Reacts to New Topps Trading Card

Trey Yesavage has officially arrived for his first full season with the Toronto Blue Jays, returning from the injured list in late April. He missed the first month of the season while recovering from a right shoulder impingement.

The 22-year-old right-hander made his debut last September after an incredibly fast rise through the system. Yesavage advanced through all four levels of the minor leagues, from Low-A to Triple-A, in just a matter of months.

He then earned a role on the postseason roster and helped lead Toronto to the Fall Classic, making history in the process by becoming the first rookie to ever record 12 strikeouts in a World Series game.

With Yesavage rising faster than almost any young pitcher in baseball, his profile off the field has grown just as quickly.

On Monday, Topps, the baseball trading card company, teased a new 1-of-1 card for Yesavage. “This card is EPIC ‍ Look for Trey Yesavage’s 1-of-1 ‘Spotlights’ trading card arriving this week in 2026 Bowman Baseball,” the caption read.

Fans will have the chance to pull the card by purchasing packs. Yesavage reacted to the announcement by sharing the preview of the card on his Instagram story. He added the caption, “.”

As Yesavage continues to expand his presence off the field as one of the game’s most marketable young players, his performance on the mound explains why. It is remarkable that despite all the success he has already experienced, he still has rookie eligibility for this season and can compete for the American League Rookie of the Year award.

Even after starting the season a month late, he is off to a strong start. Through his first three outings, he has posted a 0.68 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings.

Yesavage was drafted less than two years ago in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, making his rise one of the most impressive stories in baseball. His next start will likely come this upcoming weekend against the Detroit Tigers.
