The Toronto Blue Jays have been an underwhelming group in 2026. The team entered this season with high expectations after coming just one win short of a World Series title in 2025. Unfortunately, they have hovered around the .500 mark all year long.
Part of the reason they have taken a step backwards has been the play of superstar first basemanVladimir Guerrero Jr.
The 27-year-old is in the midst of a career-worst season. Across 88 games, he has posted a .262 batting average, .343 on-base percentage and .694 OPS, totaling just five home runs and 37 RBIs. For a player in just year one of a 14-year, $500 million contract, he has not performed up to expectations.
Despite his shortcomings on the field, Guerrero still remains one of the most influential players on the Blue Jays both on and off it.
Ahead of Toronto's weekend series against the San Diego Padres, Guerrero decided to use that influence for good.
He announced in collaboration with Alltroo that he is supporting urgent earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela after the country experienced two devastating earthquakes.
Anyone who supports the cause using Guerrero's link will also be entered into a giveaway to win a full experience in Toronto.
"My heart is with Venezuela. Join me in supporting urgent earthquake relief efforts at alltroo.com/vladdy You’ll be entered for a chance to win a full weekend in Toronto for our series against the Orioles, September 11-13. Two-night stadium-view hotel stay where you’ll watch Friday’s game from the suite, flights, and tickets to Saturday and Sunday’s games included," the caption read.
For a player who has faced criticism for his on-field performance this season, moments like this serve as a reminder that Guerrero's impact extends well beyond the baseball diamond.
