The Boston Red Sox have rounded into form as of late. They continued their winning ways with a 3-1 win this afternoon on the road against the Seattle Mariners. That win punctuated Boston’s fourth straight winning series. Boston’s streak began by taking two of three games on the road against the rival New York Yankees.
It continued by taking two of three at home against the Tampa Bay Rays and sweeping a three-game home series against the Yankees. The Sox then took two of three on the road against the Seattle Mariners. Will the Boston Red Sox maintain their high level of play?

Boston’s improved play has not helped them much in a loaded American League East. They are fourth in the division with a record of 39-37. Boston’s offense is strong. They are 14th in the league in batting average, seventh in home runs, and fifth in runs scored. The newly dealt Rafael Devers leads the team in many offensive categories. Even though he was reportedly a malcontent, his production at the plate will not be easily replaced.
One of the reasons for Boston’s disappointing 2025 campaign has been the performance of its pitching staff. They are 18th in the league in ERA, 20th in WHIP, and 18th in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Garrett Crochet has been a bright spot on an otherwise poor unit. He is sixth in the league in wins, seventh in ERA, and leading the league in strikeouts.
Boston’s road trip will continue on Friday with a three-game set against Devers’ new team, the San Francisco Giants. The Boston Red Sox will have their work cut out for them dealing with a motivated Devers, and a talented ballclub overall.
