The Red Sox were led by the home run ball last night as Trevor Story hit a solo home run. Ceddanne Rafaela had the big one as he hit a two-run pinch-hit home run to give the Red Sox a 3-1 lead, which was the final. The lone Phillies run came on a Justin Crawford solo home run. Sonny Gray pitched well, going six innings, allowing a run on two hits. He walked one and struck out a season high six. The game went exactly as planned, handing the ball to Justin Slaten, Garrett Whitlock, and Aroldis Chapman for the win.
Ceddanne Rafaela finished the game 1-1 with that one hit being the two-run home run that led to the Red Sox’s win over the Phillies.
Sonny Gray, since coming off the injured list, is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA, a 0.82 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 11 innings of work. Justin Slaten, since he returned from the injured list, has pitched two scoreless innings. He’s allowed one base runner, who came last night, and has a strikeout in two innings of work.
