The Boston Red Sox have been plagued by the injury bug to start the 2025 MLB season, especially on the starting pitching front. Before Opening Day, multiple notable names like Kutter Crawford, Lucas Giolito, and Brayan Bello were sent to the Injured List.
Boston also desperately needs some assurance from starters as Tanner Houck and Walker Buehler, two Red Sox with high expectations, have not gotten off to the best start.
Luckily for Boston, manager Alex Cora provided good news on when fans will see Brayan Bello's season debut. Bello was dealing with shoulder problems during Spring Training, and the team didn’t want to rush him into action. According to Cora, Bello will record his first start of 2025 on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners.

The 25-year-old righty starter is entering his fourth season with Boston and has a good track record of providing the Red Sox with innings. In both of the prior two seasons, Bello has recorded 150+ innings. He was 14-8 with a 4.49 ERA in 2024, and is expected to take a big leap in 2025.
Even some of Boston’s plug-in starters have dealt with IL stints, as Richard Fitts is recovering from a pectoral strain. Bello’s return couldn’t come at a better time as the Red Sox need an innings-eater in the rotation to allow for some relief to the bullpen.
The return for Bello will be in front of the Boston faithful at Fenway Park as the Red Sox open up a three-game home set against the Mariners.
