Boston Red Sox Starting Pitcher Lucas Giolito continued his great play this afternoon in the “Nation’s Capital” against the Washington Nationals. He surrendered one earned run over 7.2 innings of work and punched out seven. Success on the mound is nothing new for the Red Sox pitcher. He has a whopping 0.83 ERA over his last five starts. The starting pitcher was struggling before this hot streak. He is 5-1 this year with a 3.66 ERA. Will he continue pitching at such a high level?

Giolito debuted with the Washington Nationals in 2016. His career has included stints with the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels , and Cleveland Guardians. He made his lone All-Star appearance in 2019. The starting pitcher also has two top-1o finishes in AL Cy Young voting(2019, 2020). He missed the entirety of the 2024 season due to a UCL injury. Giolito signed a two-year $38.5 million contract with the Red Sox in January.
Giolito’s next scheduled start is on July 9 at home against the lowly Colorado Rockies. The starting pitcher will look to continue faring well for a Red Sox team looking to find its footing in the second half of the regular season.
