Braves make a shocking shake up to the coaching staff

This is sure to ruffle some feathers around Braves Country. According to the team’s official X/Twitter account, the Braves are bringing back former manager Fredi Gonzalez to be the team’s third base coach, replacing Matt Tuiasosopo.

Gonzalez was the Braves manager from 2011-2016, amassing a 434-414 record for the club. When he was fired, Brian Snitker became the interim manager, and the rest is history, as Snitker is still leading the club after capturing a World Series and six NL East titles since taking over as manager.

The mere mention of Fredi Gonzalez reminds much of Braves Country of some dark times, and bringing him back when the team is struggling as badly as they are is quite ironic. With that being said, Matt Tuiasosopo was not doing his job as the club’s third base coach. He was way too aggressive with his sends, leading to several baserunners being thrown out at the plate by a country mile. In a couple of instances, he single-handedly cost the Braves wins. He had to be replaced, and while Fredi Gonzalez might bring back nightmares, hopefully, he will do a better job than his predecessor.
