Braves make roster move ahead of Wednesday’s game with Marlins

Ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Marlins, the Braves made a roster move, activating Eli White from the 7-day concussion IL. In a corresponding move, Jose Azocar has been designated for assignment.

White suffered a concussion on the game-saving play he made during the Braves’ trip to Los Angeles. He gives the outfield another right-handed bat capable of starting, which at least affords Walt Weiss some added flexibility to play Mauricio Dubon at shortstop while Ha-Seong Kim works his way back up to speed.

Jose Azocar filled in admirably while White and Ronald Acuña Jr. were on the IL, hitting .333 with an .842 OPS. It’s unfortunate the Braves had to sacrifice the organizational depth by designating him for assignment, but there’s at least a chance he sneaks through waivers and ends up back in Gwinnett.
