Braves vs. Red Sox Game 1 feels a little like a measuring-stick game for Boston. Atlanta has looked like one of the most complete teams in baseball lately, while the Red Sox are still trying to climb out of an inconsistent start. Fenway Park should bring playoff-type energy with Spencer Strider taking the mound against a Boston lineup searching for answers.
Here’s how to watch Tuesday night’s matchup:
Atlanta enters the series sitting atop the NL East, while Boston is searching for momentum after another uneven stretch.
The Braves hand the ball to Spencer Strider, and his return has raised the ceiling of Atlanta’s rotation.
Strider brings elite swing-and-miss stuff every time he takes the mound, and Boston’s lineup could have problems if he starts piling up strikeouts early. Even when hitters make contact against him, his fastball velocity and wipeout slider completely change the tempo of games.
Boston counters with Ranger Suarez, who has quietly been one of the few stabilizing forces in the Red Sox rotation. Suarez owns a sharp 2.40 ERA through 48.2 innings and has held opponents to a .202 batting average this season. Against Atlanta’s loaded lineup, though, there’s almost zero margin for mistakes.
