Brewers Collection of 2025 MLB Draft Picks Is the Envy of the Rest of the League

While the 2025 MLB Draft isn't going to take place until July, the order for the Draft is now set and finalized following the signings of Alex Bregman and Nick Pivetta being made official.

Draft pick penalties for the Red Sox and Padres have been enforced and now the league has officially set the order with the last remaining qualifying offer players signing.

Those penalties did serve a little bit of benefit for the Milwaukee Brewers, who now boast a collection of Day 1 Draft picks that makes the Crew the envy of the league for a loaded 2025 MLB Draft class.

How many Day 1 selections do the Brewers have in the 2025 MLB Draft?

The Brewers have six selections on the first day of the 2025 MLB Draft. MLB changed from a three-day format to a two-day format for this year. The first day now consists of Rounds 1-3, while the second day is rounds 4-20.

The Brewers have picks at 20, 32, 33, 59, 68, and 94 overall on the first night of the Draft. The 20th, 59th, and 94th overall picks are the Crew's standard first, second, and third round picks. The 32nd overall pick is compensation for the loss of Willy Adames in free agency. The 33rd overall pick is the Brewers' Competitive Balance Round A selection for being a bottom-10 market club. The 68th overall pick is compensation for not signing Chris Levonas with the 67th overall pick in last year's Draft.

The Milwaukee Brewers have the most selections of any team in baseball within the first 68 selections with those six, making them the envy of the league. Only the Baltimore Orioles come close, with six in the first 69 picks as their Competitive Balance Round B selection falls right after Milwaukee.

This incredible amount of Draft capital will give the Brewers a lot of money to play with as the Draft plays out. In a much stronger class this year, Milwaukee is well-positioned to take advantage and bring in some blue chip talent to develop for future contending Brewers teams.

When was the last time the Brewers had back-to-back Draft selections?

Having back-to-back selections at 32 and 33 overall cannot be overlooked either, as the Brewers do not have to worry about anyone taking a player they want in between those picks.

It will be the first time the Brewers have had back-to-back selections since the 2012 Draft, when they picked 27th and 28th overall, earning an extra pick for the loss of Prince Fielder to Detroit in free agency. The Brewers used those picks on catcher-turned-outfielder Clint Coulter and outfielder Victor Roache. Neither made it to the major leagues.

We may be months away from the 2025 Draft, but the Brewers scouting department is already hard at work putting together their board and scouting talent as the college baseball season is already underway and now that they know exactly where they'll be picking, they can prepare from the most-enviable position possible.
