Jacob Misiorowski is in just his first MLB postseason, but he’s been having a lot of success with his stuff in the playoffs for the Milwaukee Brewers.
The 23-year-old rookie right-hander picked up a loss on Thursday, as he surrendered an earned run on three hits in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, but he sizzled with nine strikeouts to his name.
Misiorowski was tripped in the sixth inning by Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman, whose RBI single broke a 1-1 tie and gave Los Angeles the lead for good, but that aside, it was another superb showing from the All-Star hurler.
Milwaukee’s offense simply didn’t show up again, just as it had in the first two games of the series, leaving Misiorowski and the other two relievers after him without enough run support to work with.
Despite the loss, Misiorowski made history on the mound.
Misiorowski went into the history books as the third pitcher to strike out at least nine batters in a postseason game he didn’t start – and the first in 59 years. The others were Moe Drabowsky of the Orioles in Game 1 of the 1966 World Series (11 strikeouts) and Jesse Barnes of the New York Giants in Game 6 of the 1921 World Series (10 strikeouts).
Regardless of what the ultimate outcome of the Dodgers series will be, Misiorowski appears to have learned lessons he’s ready to carry with him into 2026.
“All the positives that come out of this is ammo for next year to come back even stronger and be even better than we are now,” Misiorowski shared.
