Brewers Make Christian Yelich Request Before MLB Playoffs

The Milwaukee Brewers had a historic regular season, finishing with a 97–65 record (best mark in franchise history) and the top seed in the NL. The Brewers featured one of the most well-rounded groups in the league and will be looking to carry that momentum into October.

Now playing in his eighth season in Milwaukee, Christian Yelich has continued to dominate and be a huge contributor in the batter’s box. After transitioning to a designated hitter role with spot starts in the outfield, Yelich has thrived and accomplished his goal of being available and healthy during the regular season. The 33-year-old veteran appeared in 150 games, posting a .264 batting average, .343 on-base percentage, .795 OPS, 29 home runs and 103 RBIs.

With Milwaukee featuring a younger group, Yelich’s leadership and clubhouse presence will be huge for a talented club lacking postseason experience.

As the Brewers await their opponent for the NLDS (Chicago Cubs or San Diego Padres), the team shared that nine players (including Yelich) have been nominated for the All-MLB Team. The team made a request to fans on X to vote for Yelich and his teammates. “The Milwaukee Brewers have NINE All-MLB candidates!” the post read.

The All-MLB Team was introduced in 2019 as a way to recognize the best players across both leagues for their performance over the entire regular season. Unlike the All-Star Game, which reflects first-half production, All-MLB honors are based on full-season stats and impact. Voting is split between fans and a panel of experts, making it one of the most comprehensive and respected honors.

Yelich already has built an impressive list of accolades over his 13-year career. He has collected an NL MVP in 2018, three All-Star selections, three Silver Sluggers, a Gold Glove and two batting titles.

However, the aging slugger is still chasing his first World Series ring — just like the Brewers franchise, which has never won a championship. After a record-setting regular season, Milwaukee has a chance to turn that momentum into a storybook ending.

The NLDS will begin Saturday in Milwaukee.
