The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 MLB regular season, beating Shohei Ohtani and the reigning World Series champions Los Angeles Dodgers, in all six meetings. It looks like the tables have turned in the National League Championship Series, as the Brewers find themselves just two losses away from getting knocked out of the postseason.
Still, it’s been quite a year for Pat Murphy’s Milwaukee side, which won the most games in the regular season to secure the No. 1 overall seed in the National League before outlasting the Chicago Cubs in the National League Division Series.
After the Brewers eliminated the Cubs in the NLDS, Murphy said he got a message from someone on the team Milwaukee was about to deal with in the following round.
According to Murphy, he got a text message from Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, who congratulated him and Milwaukee for advancing to the NLCS for the first time since 2018.
Via Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY:
“Congrats, look forward to seeing you,” Murphy told USA TODAY Sports, reading Friedman’s text from his phone. “Please see if you can be a little more hospitable than you were with us this season. Thanks for your consideration.”
With their backs against the wall, the Brewers are hoping to turn things around and catch up to Los Angeles. Hopefully for Murphy, the next message he gets from Friedman is another congratulatory one, this time for completing a come-from-behind series win.
