Boston Red Sox Willson Contreras was not a happy man on Monday night, especially after he got hit by a pitch (again) by the Milwaukee Brewers.
Contreras has been a frequent customer of Milwaukee HBPs. In fact, he’s been hit by a pitch from Milwaukee a total of 24 times, including the one from Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff that set off the 33-year-old infielder. Woodruff, in particular, has hit Contreras six times in his career.
In a seeming response to his latest HBP from Milwaukee, Contreras slid hard to second base and hurt Milwaukee shortstop David Hamilton, who ripped his pants in the collision.
Following the game, Contreras did not hold back in sending Milwaukee a warning.
“They always say, ‘I’m not trying to hit you,”’ Contreras said after the Brewers defeated Boston, 8-6, via ESPN. “That gets old. So, next time they hit me again, I’m going to take one of them out. That’s a message.”
Despite the HBP, Contreras stayed focus at the plate, going 3-of-3 with a home run and two RBIs and a walk.
Woodruff allowed five runs (three earned) on srven hits and gave up two walks with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work. He avoided picking up a loss, as the Brewers’ offense answered the call.
After winning the series opener at Fenway Park, Milwaukee will look to win the second game of the series this Tuesday night with Jacob Misiorowski getting the start for the Brewers.
Boston, on the other hand, will have Garrett Crochet toeing the rubber.
Milwaukee, which is on a hot start. has won eight of its first 10 games of the season and has won all three of its series so far in the 2026 MLB campaign.
