Brian Snitker comments on murky future with the Braves

The Braves kicked off the 2025 campaign in absolutely brutal fashion, losing all four games in San Diego. The offense was non-existent, getting shutout in each of the last two games. It’s been 22 innings since Atlanta scored, and we got this fun tidbit from Brian Snitker.

“I’ll let the year get underway and see what happens,” Snitker told Jon Heyman of the New York Post when asked about his future with the club.

Last year, Snit did tell Bob Nightengale that he viewed 2025 as his final season but isn’t ready to make that final call yet.

“I still feel really good, and the 50-number [50 years with the Braves] is something I think it’d be kind of cool.  But right now, I’m leaning towards getting through today,” Snitker told Nightengale.

Brian Snitker is a Braves lifer, having spent 50 years with the organization. It’s hilariously bad timing for the Braves to open the season 0-4 and for Heyman to drop this piece. It’s just bad timing, though.

Atlanta began slow in the year they won the World Series, losing the first four contests of the 2021 season as well. However, there are legitimate concerns, mainly surrounding the bullpen.

The bats will pick up. I’m not worried about that. The rotation didn’t look its best, but the Padres’ lineup is among the best in baseball. I’m not worried about Chris Sale or even Reynaldo Lopez. What I am worried about is Brian Snitker not having reliable arms to go to late in games.

Unfortunately, it won’t get any easier for the Braves either as they travel to Chavez Ravine for a date with the Dodgers.
