There’s a bit of encouraging news on the injury front for the Cardinals.
Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker is making notable progress in his recovery from wrist inflammation, according to manager Oli Marmol.
As reported by MLB.com’s John Denton, Marmol shared that Walker has been hitting and lifting weights without any pain.
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol said that RF Jordan Walker (left wrist irritation) has made significant progress and hit and lifted weights today without pain. Walker will likely need an abbreviated Minor League rehab assignment to ramp up for a return to the Cards, Marmol said.

Walker was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, May 31, after experiencing discomfort in his wrist.
The timing was more than unfortunate, as he had been heating up at the plate, batting .300 (12-for-40) over his last 14 games with a .792 OPS and 11 RBIs.
While the injury was frustrating for Walker, the team and fans, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol believes the move was necessary.
“Yeah, [it’s frustrating], but I don’t think it’s going to be more than the 10 days,” Marmol said. “We’ll have him back pretty soon.”
Walker is expected to take batting practice and participate in on-field workouts Monday. If he clears those without any setbacks, he will likely begin an 'abbreviated' minor league rehab assignment shortly after.
It’s unclear how many games he’ll need, but if all goes well, fans can expect to see Walker return to the Cardinals’ lineup within the next week or so.
