Because he was out of options and the Braves felt it was best to keep Drake Baldwin in the majors alongside Sean Murphy, the club had no choice but to designate Chadwick Tromp for assignment.
Somewhat surprisingly, Tromp actually made it through waivers and was not claimed by another team. The Braves optioned him to AAA Gwinnett, but he instead elected free agency. Now, the 30-year-old backstop has a new home, inking a minor-league deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
According to https://t.co/PZ2wAdeRrb transactions, #Orioles signed catcher Chadwick Tromp, who started season with #Braves to a minor league contract over the weekend.

Chadwick Tromp was a solid third catcher for the Braves for several years and really deserves a fair crack on a major-league roster. Since he didn’t get that, it’s a bit disappointing that he did not remain with the organization. More depth at any position, particularly catcher, is always appreciated.
However, with guys like Jason Delay and James McCann also in the organization, Tromp probably felt his best chance at getting major-league playing time was elsewhere. He was a class act the entire way, and we wish him the best with the Orioles.
