MLB’s Opening Day is almost here as a new season is on the horizon. For the Chicago Cubs, they are coming off a season in which they earned a berth to the Wild Card round, beating the San Diego Padres before falling to the Milwaukee Brewers.

After another active offseason with the additions of Alex Bregman and pitcher Edward Cabrera, the Cubs have their sights on winning the NL Central and then more.

With the season approaching, there’s an interesting trend regarding the Cubs and their chances this season.

Going into this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the clear favorites to win the World Series. The Dodgers are looking to three-peat this season and with the addition of Kyle Tucker, they loaded up on offense again.

As of now, the Dodgers are +220 to win the World Series with the New York Yankees (+1000), New York Mets (+1200), Seattle Mariners (+1300), Toronto Blue Jays (+1400), Boston Red Sox (+1600), Philadelphia Phillies (+1600) and then the Cubs (+1800). However, the public is betting a lot on the Cubs to win the World Series this year.

Per Bet MGM, the Cubs are the second-most bet team in the National League to win the World Series:

That’s interesting seeing that the Cubs odds in the NL are behind the Dodgers, Mets and Phillies already. But if you’re confident in the Cubs, it may not be that bad of a bet.

It’s clear the Dodgers are the favorites right now, and rightfully so. But over a 162-game regular season and then the postseason, anything can happen.
