Chicago Cubs' Kyle Tucker Gets Honest About Injury News

The Chicago Cubs have seen superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker go through a major slump over the last couple of months. It has been perplexing to the fans, but lately there has been some speculation that Tucker might be dealing with an injury.

Now, that news has been made official.

Tucker has been dealing with an injury. Back in June, he was reportedly diagnosed with a fracture in his hand. Since that diagno sis, Tucker has been trying to play through the injury.

During the month of July, Tucker only hit just one home run to go along with nine RBI's, while batting .218/.380/.295. In August so far, he has not hit a home run and only has one RBI.

With the news about his injury now public, Tucker has spoken out honestly about how he has handled the situation. Specifically, he was asked about whether or not he should have opened up about the injury sooner, rather than letting fans just get frustrated with his production.

“I don’t know, there are a couple of ways I could have handled it. I just went out there and played. That’s how things went," Tucker said.

Throughout the course of his entire first year with the Cubs, Tucker has played in 121 games. He has hit 18 home runs, driven in 62 RBI's, and has hit .261/.374/.447. Those numbers make much more sense now knowing about the injury.

Looking ahead to the MLB offseason, Tucker will become a free agent. Chicago would likely prefer to find a way to keep him around, but that is far from a guarantee.

With the MLB postseason coming up quickly, the Cubs will need Tucker to pick up his production. Hopefully, he's able to do so despite dealing with the hand injury.
