Chicago White Sox Acquire Reliever Huascar Brazobán from Mets

The Chicago White Sox acquired right-handed reliever Huascar Brazobán from the New York Mets early Monday morning in exchange for two minor league pitchers, according to multiple reports.

The Mets received Double-A right-hander Gabe Davis and Triple-A right-hander Zach Franklin in the deal.

Brazobán, 36, is having a strong season with a 2.56 ERA over 52.2 innings in 46 appearances for New York. He has limited hitters to a .166 average while relying heavily on a mid-to-upper-90s sinker and changeup. The right-hander remains under team control through 2029.

The move comes shortly after the White Sox traded Seranthony Domínguez to the Seattle Mariners as part of the package for starter Luis Castillo. Brazobán provides a veteran presence for the back end of Chicago’s bullpen as the club continues to push in the AL Central race.

Davis ranked as the White Sox’s No. 18 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, while Franklin has spent the season at Triple-A Charlotte.

The trade adds another controllable arm to a White Sox pitching staff that has been active throughout the deadline period.
