The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Chuckie Robinson and placed Dalton Rushing on the 10-day injured list with a right shin contusion. To make room on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, Matt Sauer was designated for assignment.

Robinson gets his first stint with the Dodgers since being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on May 31, when Tyler Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Robinson himself has been designated for assignment twice this season, both by the Angels and Dodgers.

Prior to the Angels’ DFA, Robinson was hitting .272/.315/.388 with five doubles, two triples, one home run and 18 RBI over 27 games with Triple-A Salt Lake City.

Once he was claimed by the Dodgers, Robinson only spent a few days on their 40-man roster before getting designated for assignment on June 3 to make room for José Ureña.

Robinson cleared waivers and remained with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, where he has since appeared in 47 games while hitting .259/.344/.361 with five doubles, four home runs, 28 RBI and 43 runs scored.

Robinson was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 21st round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Robinson went on to make his MLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2022 and also spent time in the Majors with the Chicago White Sox.

The 30-year-old has appeared in 51 career games at the MLB level, batting a combined .132/.170/.194 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI during that span.

Dalton Rushing on injured list

Rushing was removed from Friday’s game in the sixth inning after fouling a ball off his right knee/upper shin area and going down in immediate pain.

Rushing was checked on by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and trainer Yosuke “Possum” Nakajima. They eventually helped carry Rushing off the field, as he was unable to put any weight on his right leg.

The Dodgers announced Rushing came out of the game due to a right lower leg contusion.

X-rays were negative on Rushing’s leg, but he underwent additional testing on Saturday, including a CT scan.

He was batting .190 with three homers and 21 RBI in 45 games this year.

Will Smith also continues to deal with an injury after taking a foul ball off his right hand. He has remained on the active roster, but is unlikely to play in any games this weekend and will need to manage a bone bruise moving forward.
