Clemson’s reputation as a pipeline to Major League Baseball remains firmly intact in 2025, as three former Tigers have already made appearances in MLB games this season. Right-handers Carson Spiers and Justin Wrobleski, along with outfielder Eli White, are the latest to carry on the program’s proud legacy at the next level.
Spiers, who posted a 2.47 ERA at Clemson from 2017 to 2020, made his major league debut with the Cincinnati Reds on September 3, 2023. He’s continued to carve out opportunities in the big leagues this season as a versatile arm. White, a speedy outfielder who hit .275 with 104 runs scored and 36 stolen bases from 2014 to 2016, debuted with the Texas Rangers back in 2020 and remains a valuable depth piece thanks to his defense and athleticism.
Wrobleski, who spent one season at Clemson in 2019 before transferring, made his big-league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 7, 2024. Now in his second season, the southpaw has flashed enough promise to stay in a deep Dodgers rotation.
Their appearances extend a remarkable Clemson baseball streak: The program has had at least one former player reach the majors in every season since 1956 — a 70-year stretch. Even more impressively, multiple former Tigers have made MLB appearances in 52 consecutive years, dating back to 1974.
Clemson set a program record in 2021 with 12 former players reaching the majors. While this year’s total stands at three so far, the ongoing presence of Tigers in MLB is a testament to the program’s ability to develop and produce professional talent — and there’s little sign of that slowing down anytime soon.
